workshop 2013 - academy of arts, prague
this year, as part of the nextgen project, nachtmann colla-
borated with the academy of art, architecture and design
in prague, founded in 1885. today, the school produces
some of the most talented design graduates in the world.
graduate roman kvita created sphere, the latest nextgen
product line, which consists of six new products introduced
in 2014. “i always knew that manufacturing glass takes time,
skills, and love. i was impressed by nachtmann’s ability to
produce incredible shapes and forms in crystal and to always
surprise with new ideas.” with its spherical convex shapes,
sphere makes striking refractions and plays with the light.
im rahmen des nextgen-projekts hat nachtmann in diesem
jahr mit der academy of art architecture and design in
prag kooperiert. gegründet 1885, bringt diese schule heute
einige der talentiertesten design-absolventen weltweit
hervor. einer von ihnen ist roman kvita, der die neueste
nextgen produktlinie sphere entwickelt hat, die aus sechs
neuen produkten besteht, welche 2014 vorgestellt werden.

mir war stets klar, dass man für die verarbeitung von glas
zeit, handwerkliches können und liebe zum objekt benö-
tigt. daher beeindruckt mich die Fähigkeit von nachtmann,
kristallglas in nie geahnten Formen zu produzieren und im-
mer wieder mit neuen ideen zu überraschen.“ dank seiner
sphärisch konvexen Form spielt sphere gekonnt mit dem
licht und produziert faszinierende lichtbrechungen.
